In the mid-twentieth century Christian Restorff started building a new hotel in Thorshavn. The hotel opened in 1951 and was named "Hafnia". The following decades the hotel expanded drastically, and as time went Hotel Hafnia became the biggest hotel in the Faroe Islands. In 1988 the sons of Christian took over the company, following the footsteps of their father. Johan and Martin Christian were running the hotel with Johan as the director. The sons walked their fathers footsteps. Their biggest passion was to provide a good service to their guests. The hotel was renovated and developed so that it was now comparable to international standards. In the winter of 2005 the hotel got new owners once again. This time not Restorff relatives. The new owners were Osmund Justinussen and his sons: Tummas and Gunnar, and also Per Sævik from Norway. In 2018 P/f Smyril Line took over the hotel, and on the 1st of July 2020 P/f Smyril Line opened the new stylish 4 star hotel & conference center, Hotel Brandan. WE OFFER At Hotel Hafnia we are always ready to accommodate our guests. Our reception is open 24/7. The chefs in our restaurant are trained professionals, and they love challenging themselves by cooking new food every day - from scratch of course. We also throw parties and arrange dinners in our event rooms. At Café Kaspar we offer good coffee, drinks, and light meals in a modern but cozy setting. It is possible to order take away from Café Kaspar and Restaurant Hafnia as well. STAFF We have educated staff members in all areas of our business. We also educate our staff members to become waiters, chefs, and receptionists. The reason for this is because we want to maintain a professional foundation. VISIONS We have but one vision at Hotel Hafnia: To be the single greatest provider of the kind of services in this business.
