Hue Imperial Citadel, which houses the Imperial City, the Forbidden Purple City, and the Emperor's Private Residence. The Nguyen's Dynasty (Vietnam's last feudalist state) erected the Hue Citadel from 1804 to 1833. The Imperial City grounds are guarded with 2-kilometer-long walls and surrounded by a moat. There are numerous distinct building works inside the Citadel, such as the Imperial City Gates, the Purple Forbidden City, Temples and places of worship, pavilions, and gardens.
