Without paying too much, you're able to experience the wild and Great Wall at Jingshanling. Far from the tourists and crowds. Moderate hiking 6km from middle gate of Jinshanling to east gate (from 1 April to 31 October). Unguided self-hiking will enable you to have all the time by yourself. Not obliged to catch up with a big tour group or being forced to enter some shops.

Jinshanling Great Wall

07:30-08:30 Pick-up from your centrally located hotel in Beijing (less than 2km from metro station Nan Luo Gu Xiang.) or the meeting point, then drive directly to Jinshanling Great Wall, which is 136km away from center of Beijing. 10:15-10:30 Arriving at Jinshanling Great Wall. Start your hiking about 3.7 miles (6km). Your driver will arrange ticket for you and you will be free after the entrance. You have approximately 3 hours on the Great Wall. Get down the Great Wall from "East Five Window Tower" (between 1 April and 31 Oct). Walk along the small path in the mountain for about 20 minutes before you get out from East Gate of Jinshanling. The driver will wait for you at the parking lot out of East Gate. NOTICE: Between 1 November and 31 March, you would have to enter and exit from the same gate (middle gate). ATTENTION: This is an UNGUIDED tour WITHOUT LUNCH (texts in "overview" and "highlights" are old and out of date and unchangeable. Please read carefully the tour details.)

Please arrive at the pick up point 30 minutes before departure time.

Additional Information

Hotel pick-up is available for hotels less than 2km from metro station Nan Luo Gu Xiang. Each group may consist of 2 or 3 different parties. Morning pick-up is done in turn from 07:45 a.m. , and pick-up time to be reconfirmed one day in advance. Pick-up starts from 06:00 to 06:30 a.m. on special National Holidays (1-5 May, 8-10 June, 15-17 September, 1-7 October, 2024)

  • ATTENTIN: THE MEETING POINT IS by the road out of EXIT C of subway station Zhang Zi Zhong Lu of Line 5 (dark purple), NOT EXIT A.

It was a great experience with Jackie and Mr.Soon as driver. We were 5 people, they did a bigger group with another different-sizes groups, in total we were 10 kindly person. It was an amazing tour! That side of the Great Wall was really beautiful and there are very few people which makes it much more enjoyable and walkable! Be prepares to walk and climb quite a lot, bit in the end the landscapes are just breath-taking!

Great tour, they handle all of the logistics. You are required to take your own lunch, which was a slight challenge but we found a takeaway wrap at a grocery store. The trek from one section through to the next was incredible, and you have it basically alone. So worth the 3 hour drive.
