A visit to Cape Town is incomplete without a small-group (Maximum 7 persons) personalized hiking experience up Lion s Head. As the hiking trail circle up the mountain you are getting different views all along. The most iconic sight of Cape Town is from the summit of Lion's Head Instagram rock with an Incredible 360 degrees views. The best location to take photos of Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak, the Twelve Apostles Mountain range. If you look towards the North you see Table Bay, Robben Island and the West Coast. Early morning sunrise hike is recommended to beat the crowds and the summer heat. The fauna you may see are the Rock Hyrax (Dassie) small furry animal. You may spot lizards and we still have porcupines. As for the flora you will see our unique Cape Fynbos. The lower base of Lion's Head is Cape granite and the upper section sandstone. If you are traveling with a group of friends, we also have a private hiking option for up to 7 people.

What's included in Hiking Lion's Head for Sunrise Morning Hike

Located between Table Mountain and Signal Hill, Lion' s Head overlook the city of Cape Town, it is part of Table Mountain National Park. Our first 30 minutes hike require the use of our headlamps, you will see Cape Town city light luckily this part of the trail is easy to follow albeit being a steep gravel track. First twilight appear 30 minutes before “sunrise” by then we will have completed a full loop around Lion’s Head standing half way to the summit where the path diverged. The last 20 to 30 minutes of the trail is along a steep ridge with rocky sections and ladders which require at time the use of your hands. As the sun light starts to peak over the horizon the light begins to change to an orange glow over Table Mountain. At 669m the summit of Lion’s Head reveal a 360 degrees view of Cape Town, Table Mountain and the sparkling coastline. It is only now in full daylight that we are able to see the path that we have just ascended with impressive rock formation such as Cape granite, Table Mountain sandstone as well as on the lower slope of Lion's Head our unique indigenous Cape Fynbos. The descent back to the car park takes approximately 45mn. Start time vary based on Sunrise.
