About Fosshotel Reykholt

Reykholt was home to Snorri Sturluson, Iceland's greatest saga writer, poet and historian. Today, it is still one of Iceland's main historical and cultural sites. Here guests will find 2 beautiful churches, Snorri's natural hot pool, Snorralaug, Heimskringla and Snorrastofa, an exhibition of Snorri's writing and a research centre for medieval studies. Just a few minutes' drive from Reykholt are the waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafossar, Europe's most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver, and several lava tubes and caves. Reykholt is located in an area called Borgarfjörður in western Iceland, less then 90 minutes' drive from Reykjavík. The museum, bus station, restaurants and shops in Borgarnes town are 30 minutes' drive from the hotel, and the Grabrok volcano hiking road is 35 km away. This cultural hotel has a theme based on Icelandic literature, Norse mythology and classical music. This official tourist-class hotel includes a restaurant, bar, library, Internet lounge (fees apply), the cosy Moon lounge, conference rooms and free parking. The family-friendly conference hotel offers 53 guest rooms in total and further facilities include a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services, and a bicycle hire service (fees apply). Each room features an en suite bathroom with a shower, bathtub and hairdryer, satellite TV, a radio, Internet access and individually regulated heating. There are free outdoor hot tubs, a massage room, light therapy room and an aromatherapy room. The hotel offers a great-value Scandinavian style breakfast buffet. Guests may enjoy Icelandic and international dishes for lunch and dinner, with set menu and à la carte options available.

Great Stay
Perfect destinations for a quick relaxing escape from the city. The room was spacious and clean and the staff very friendly. Make sure to take advantage of the spa and outdoor hot tubs that is available for a small fee but totally worth the money. The dinner at the restaurant was exceptional and ...

great hotel in great location
Hotel is very clean and welcoming, and we enjoyed our stay there very much. Breakfast was great, especially the bakes. They also have spa which looked beautiful and a happy hour with nice cocktails and beer in the afternoon. I highly recommend to stay in this hotel while traveling through Iceland

Clean, big room
Nice, but expensive (as everything in Iceland). Big rooms and open space in whole hotel. Dinner was OK (although not very many dishes to choose from), so was the breakfast. In mid June it was not crowded.
