We begin at a local shop synonymous for their quality donuts––Do-Rite Donuts. From there we’ll walk the Randolph corridor, learning about the history of Chicago’s West Loop, a historic neighborhood which has gone through a series of revitalizations since its days as the industrial backbone of the City of Big Shoulders. We’ll sample the wacky, matcha-infused creations of a hidden-gem––Matcha-Cita cafe, where you’ll definitely need to pause for a photo-op! We’ll enjoy the over-the-top donut stylings of a newcomer shop trying to break onto the scene, Voodoo Donuts, a Portland transplant featuring indulgent flavors and unexpected toppings. Finally, we’ll stroll through a magical, old-time brickwork alley laden with beautiful, floral street-art, before emerging at Sawada Coffee, owned by the world renown latte artist, Hiroshi Sawada. Throughout our journey, we’ll provide anecdotes and history of each of the locations, the surrounding neighborhood as well as Chicago history in general.
At Do-Rite Donuts, we'll sample some of their amazing, rotating flavors. If you're feeling so inclined, they also have an amazing fried chicken sandwich you can try post-tour. It's phenomenal!
Throughout the tour, we'll be exploring the West Loop and Restaurant Row. It's not a ton of walking, but it's enough to help walk off some of the donuts you'll be eating.
Voodoo Doughnuts is an incredible new donut shop in Chicago. If you haven't been here, we're very excited to share it with you. And if you have been here, you know how good they are.
