KZ-Gedenkstatte Mauthausen

The former concentration camp Mauthausen is about 20 km from Linz and was the largest German concentration camp of the National Socialists in the territory of Austria. The Austrian Federal Government has built a museum in a building of the former concentration camp. Today, the rest of the camp and the adjacent quarry memorial and memorial.

OPENING HOURS MAUTHAUSEN KZ: - 01.03.–26.10.: daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (admission until 4:45 p.m.) - October 27th - February 28th: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (admission until 3:00 p.m.), closed Monday - Closed at Christmas (December 24th - December 26th), New Year's Eve (December 31st - January 1st)

A real eye opener of the brutality of mankind . The tour guid was brilliant explained everything very well and answered all questions even the awkward ones . Some places in the camp are let’s say moving as it was an awful place ,but needs to preserved to tell this awful story to future generations.

how much of the horror is preserved, but also how much is still being uncovered. these memorials are necessary so we never forget and, hopefully, never repeat.
