I took this sunrise shot early in the morning after camping atop Pedra da Gavea, a Rio landmark, last June. I loved the way that the sunrise turned the fog purple and pink. My friends and I were the only ones up there to witness, and that is probably the best sunrise I will ever see in my life. You can see some of Rio’s most famous landmarks in this photo- Christ the Redeemer (left), Sugarloaf Mountain (center), Dois Irmaos mountains (right), and Rocinha favela (bottom right). A perfect moment I’m thankful I was able to capture.
