Wreck of the Matai

Shipwreck - visible from our tour start point.

Taputapuatea

Taputapuatea marae is home to the palace of Makea Nui and an old 'royal court' and cemetery. Many important historical events took place on these grounds. Please note that we do not enter the grounds.

Beachcomber Pearl Market

The Beachcomber building has an interesting history - it was once used as a Sunday School. These days it is home to an arts and craft gallery and shop, as well as a cafe.

Cook Island Christian Church (CICC)

Historical and important church and cemetery.

Theological College first run by the London Missionary Society, and later taken over by the Cook Islands Christian Church. Still in operation today.

  • We meet at 1.30pm at the front of the Courthouse. You will find this on the corner by the Avarua roundabout, and over the road from Trader Jacks. Return transfers are available for all guests.
