Without paying too much, you're able to experience the wild and Great Wall at Jingshanling. Far from the tourists and crowds. Moderate hiking 6km from middle gate of Jinshanling to east gate (from 1 April to 31 October). Unguided self-hiking will enable you to have all the time by yourself. Not obliged to catch up with a big tour group or being forced to enter some shops.

Jinshanling Great Wall

1. PICK-UP 07:30-08:30 Pick-up from your centrally located hotel in Beijing, then drive directly to Jinshanling Great Wall, which is 136km away from center of Beijing. 2. ARRIVAL AND TOUR STARTS 10:15-10:30 Arriving at Jinshanling Great Wall. Start your hiking about 3.7 miles (6km). Your driver will arrange ticket for you and you will be free after the entrance. You have approximately 3 hours on the Great Wall. 3. FINISHING Get down the Great Wall from "East Five Window Tower" (between 1 April and 31 Oct). Walk along the small path in the mountain for about 20 minutes before you get out from East Gate of Jinshanling. The driver will wait for you at the parking lot out of East Gate. NOTICE: Between 1 November and 31 March, you would have to enter and exit from the same gate (middle gate). ATTENTION: This is an UNGUIDED tour WITHOUT LUNCH (texts in "overview" and "highlights" are old and out of date and unchangeable. Please read carefully the tour details.)

Additional Information

Each group may consist of 2 or 3 different parties. Morning pick-up is done in turn from 07:45 a.m. , and pick-up time to be reconfirmed one day in advance. Pick-up starts from 06:00 to 06:30 a.m. on special National Holidays (1-5 May, 8-10 June, 15-17 September, 1-7 October, 2024)

It's a beautiful section of the Great Wall, with little crowds. Our group was the only one on the wall section, and after the first 15 min we had all spread apart enough that it really felt like you were alone on the Great Wall. There were plenty of bathrooms along the wall (very clean actually)....

It's the path less traveled so there is no crowd at all in winter, you also get to let less restored sections of the wall. The guide was also groundout and knowledgeable. The wall itself just blew me away!
