Our First stop is Assin Manso Slave Ancestral River where the Slaves had their last bath before moving them to Cape Coast and Elmina castles for final shipment. At Assin Manso, you will be told the history and walk through the Ancestral path to see the slave river where tourists will have opportunity to pray to their Ancestors and ask them for forgiveness. From the slave river, we move to Cape Coast Castle for the main history about the slave trade during colonial rule and see the DOOR OF NO RETURN After the castle, we get to enjoy the hike to Kakum National Park as we go onto Canopy Walk in the park. Get ready for an exciting but physically demanding (15-20 minute) hike in a dense Rain Forest. We will climb a hill so wear sporty shoes, sneakers and face towel for the forest hike. NB: You can skip Kakum National Park/Canopy Walk for Elmina Castle. Or go to Elmina Castle instead of Cape Coast Castle but not both. Feel free to decide! Enjoy your trip!

we visit the Assin Manso slave river site which served as the place where slaves had their last bath on African soil before being marched down to the slave castles. They were fed and cleaned so they appeared attractive and healthy to guarantee higher prices. hot branding irons were used to burn identifying marks onto the skin of captives. The marks were a scar on the shoulder, breast or upper arm to show ownership. Other times, branding was used to show that proper duty had been paid. it is now a sacred place of remembrance. it is home for the first 2 diasporas (Lady Crystal from Jamaica and Samuel Carson from New York) whose remains were brought to Ghana through the “door of return” and Reburied. Also remains of African slave descendants from Barbados are buried on the site to symbolize emancipation and re-connection.
