Some times if the weather gets too windy and the sea too choppy. the capitan may descide not to go all the way to the island for safety reasons- This does not happen too often but it can happen

My mom, dad, and brother took this trip last October. Our guide was incredible and taught us all about the sea lions. On the way to Espiritu Santo a school of dolphins followed our boat. When I signed up for this trip it was labeled as "snorkeling with sea lions day trip", not as "espiritu santo island day tour." It's very much the second and not the first. We snorkeled near a sea lion colony for about 15 minutes and that was it. It was barely enough time to get your bearings in ...

The guide was mostly speaking Spanish (very little broken English), so I had to rely on other passengers (bilingual English/Spanish) to keep up with what's happening. It was a bit frustrating specially during the snorkelling part of the trip. Otherwise, it was nice.
