Parque Tematico Replica del Viejo Penol

The history and architecture of the old town of El Peñol, located 62 km east of Medellín. At this site, which is intended to keep alive the memory of the town that was flooded in the late 1970s to create the Peñol-Guatapé reservoir.

Piedra Del Penol

The Peñol stone is a 220 meters high monolith located in Guatapé. The Peñol stone is a granite mass, composed of quartz, feldspar and mica.

Guatapé is a tourist town. It is famous for its houses decorated with colorful bas-reliefs. It is located near the Peñol-Guatapé artificial reservoir, a popular water sports center.

Great day trip filled with beautiful scenery, great food, and a nice climb up the rock. It takes 2-2.5 hours to get there, but there are things to see along the way.
