Solomon Islands Memorial Garden

This tour option begins at the Solomon Islands memorial garden. The memorial garden is located east of Honiara, at the Henderson field, the spot of the battle of Guadalcanal. The memorial garden is a lovely place to visit and reflect on what happened during the WWII. It is lined up with candle trees and plaques of various shapes commemorating soldiers who have died during WWII in Solomon Islands.The plaques beautifully set out making the whole place very moving, making one feel sad as it brings to mind what happened in this place during WWII. There are no graves in the site, it was so simple, quiet and green. In the garden travelers can take pictures and ask questions relating to the garden. Also, they can sit on available benches and reflect or pause in a moment of silence to pay respect for people who have died. Take a moment to thank them. Take off your head covering, if any, when you enter. Admission is free and the garden is spacious, it can accommodate more than twenty people.

KGVI stadium is located east of Honiara near King George VI school. This is the largest stadium in Solomon Islands and also the venue where the 2023 Pacific games were held. It was funded by the Chinese Government, built by Chinease builders and handed over to Solomon Islands Government in 2023. For this stop travelers can visit the stadium ,take pictures and take bathroom breaks using the stadium facilities.

St. Barnabas Anglican Cathedral (Pass-by Only)

This tour will take you through the city passing St. Barnabas cathedral where Christians gathered to worship on sun days. For this attraction the tour will pass by without stopping and the tour guide will provide a brief history about the cathedral and the religion.

Holy Cross Cathedral

The next stop is at the Holy Cross Cathedral. The cathedral is located in the center of Honiara on a hill near Town Council office. This is where Roman Catholic church goers go to worship on Sundays. For this stop, travelers can disembark the vehicle and visit the cathedral. They can chat with the local priest (if he is available) and take pictures as well.

The National Parliament

The National Parliament or the round haus as described by natives is located at Vaivaridge hill. For this stop travelers can visit the parliament house (when there is no meeting) and take pictures. The tour guide will also provide a brief history of the current and past government.

Solomon Islands National Museum

For this stop, our tour guide will escort you to the museum and you can walk around the room, take pictures, chat with the caretaker.

Sir. Jacob Vouza was one of the many native heroes of Guadalcanal during WWII. A monument in his honor stands in front of the Police Head Quater building in Rove, West Honiara. For this stop, travelers can take pictures and ask questions about the statue.

National Art Gallery in Honiara is a hub that has all the many different of arts and crafts of the Solomon Islands. Items displayed and sold here varies from carvings, local jewelry, local handbags, shopping bags, clothes and many more. There are also local eateries available in the gallery. For this stop, travelers can take pictures and buy from local vendors.

Solomon Scouts & Coastwatchers Memorial

Located near the seaport in Honiara, the monument recalls the bravery of the scouts and coast watchers who were invaluable in providing the Allies of WWII with local intelligence. For this stop, travelers can take pictures and ask questions about the contributions of the scouts and coast watchers during WWII.

Honiara Central Market

Located in the heart of Honiara, the Honiara Central market is the busiest place in Honiara. This where all farmers around Guadalcanal and some from surrounding provinces gathered to sell their local produces. You can find fresh vegetables, fruits and root crops here. Travelers can get to taste local fruits like green coconut, peanuts, yellow bananas and many others. They can also buy some if they want to.
