(Non-stop visit).

Continue your day with a visit to the Palace of Governors of Lomé. an iconic building that represents the historical past and heritage of the country. This historic structure served as the residence of German governors during the colonial period when Togo was under German rule. Built in the early 20th century, the palace features a mix of architectural styles reflecting both European influences and local know-how.

Monument de l'Independance

Head to Independence Square where you will have a detailed explanation of the symbols of the monument during your visit, we will also tell you the story of Togo during its fight for independence.

Next stop: National Museum of Togo to better understand through its art objects all the history and origins of the country today. A short walk to get there, allowing you to admire the surroundings and better understand this social difference that still exists in this small country of 8 million inhabitants.

Grand Marche

“Assiganmé” in the local language which means large market, will leave you speechless, a true living picture of urban activity, one of the largest in the sub-region thanks to its “Nana Benz”. These great ladies who, through their stories of success, competition and black magic, represent part of the economic heart of an entire country. Wander the bustling market streets towards the Sacré-Cœur Cathedral of Lomé.

Next destination: Lomé Cathedral; it is reminiscent of European churches, in particular the chapel of Sainte Marie in Wurzburg by its colors and, from an architectural point of view, the church of Steyl in the Netherlands. Be amazed by the beauty of Gothic art in a young country, an architectural masterpiece, a superb organ inside.

Togo

ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (Pass-by Only)

The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) is an institution under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Founded in 1976, the main objective of the EBID is to promote economic development and regional integration within ECOWAS member states. The EBID plays a significant role in financing and supporting development initiatives across West Africa, thereby contributing to the economic advancement and integration of the region.

Next stop: fetish market where you will find a whole range of objects/talismans retracing African traditions, you will also have the opportunity to learn more about Vodou practices and see the objects used for traditional ceremonies. From a simple dried or live chameleon, to lion skin or chimpanzee head and wild boar, etc., the change of scenery is real. A unique experience that highlights differences in beliefs.

Fauna Cultura

“Let’s go!” You will continue your day with a visit to a mini-zoo where you will have the opportunity to discover and interact with different animal species such as the pelican, ostrich, chimpanzee, pyton, kingfisher, eagle-owl of Verreaux etc... (An experience which will also allow you to test your emotions!)

Togo
