Itinerary
Rambla de Montevideo
It is the most frequented walk both by Uruguayans and foreigners. La Rambla, with its views of the Río de la Plata and its pink granite walls, is a fundamental part of the Montevidean identity and a mandatory visit when visiting the country's capital. It is a public space of considerable value that is used to play sports, drink mate, fish, socialize and enjoy various outdoor activities such as enjoying the sun and the beach in some areas.
Templo Ingles de Montevideo
Located facing the river, on Rambla Sur, is this temple that was the first Anglican church founded in the country and in all of Latin America.
Peatonal Sarandi
Tourists, employees of the financial sector of the neighborhood, civil servants, artisans, street artists mix in it. It begins when you cross the Puerta de la Citadel and ends on the Rambla, practically in front of the Escollera Sarandí. From many of its corners you can see the sea and the entrance of boats to the port. On it is the Plaza Matriz, various historical buildings, art galleries, museums, shops, jewelry stores and bookstores.
Peatonal Bacacay
It is one of the oldest and most charming pedestrian streets in the old town. It extends between the Teatro Solís and the Peatonal Sarandí.
Theatre Solis
It is the most important theater in the country and headquarters of the National Comedy. Its origin goes back practically to the very constitution of the Uruguayan state.
Plaza Matriz
Its official name is Plaza de la Constitución, but it is popularly known as Plaza Matriz and is the heart of the historic neighborhood. In front of it is the Metropolitan Cathedral and the building of the old Cabildo, today transformed into a museum.
Puerta de la Ciudadela
It is one of the few vestiges that remain of the old fortification of the city. It has the character of "Direct material document of the Hispano-Montevidean fortification complex".
Plaza Zabala
Plaza Zabala is located in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay. It is located in the Old City. It bears its name in homage to Bruno Mauricio de Zabala, founder of the city.
Espacio Cultural las Bovedas
