Itinerary

Krusedol Monastery

The guide will pick you up from your address in Belgrade at 10am(start time can be customized on request) and after less than an hour drive we reach our first stop, monastery Krusedol. The XVI century monastery is considered for the most beautiful and most important monastery of Fruska Gora. Many important people from Serbian history are buried inside of the church, such as two Serbian patriarchs and King Milan Obrenovic. This is a perfect place to learn more about Serbian history and how this spiritual place was a cultural and religious center where Serbs preserved their identity and tradition during Ottoman period.

Monastery Grgeteg

From Krusedol we continue to monastery Grgeteg. This monastery had a legendary founder whose name known in epic poetry was Zmaj Ognjeni Vuk. Translated literally it means “Wolf the Fiery Dragon”. Today this monastery enjoys great respect among Fruska Gora monasteries and one of the reasons is the icon of Holy Mother three-handed. More about its founder and this miraculous icon you’ll learn from your host along the tour.

Sremski Karlovci

After spiritual experience in these two monasteries we drive on to Sremski Karlovci. This charming baroque town looks liked the time has stopped in 18th century. Sremski Karlovci are significant in many things because here was a cultural and spiritual hub for all intellectual Serbian people in the Austrian Empire. In "Chapel of peace" you will find out how "Karlovac treaty" changed world diplomacy. In the town’s beautiful center there are several spots to see: Four lions fountain, Patriarch’s residence, St. Nicola’s orthodox cathedral. Also your guide will tell you more about famous wines of Karlovci, such as Bermet, which was drunk in many high courts of Europe, transatlantic ships.

Petrovaradin Fortress

Just 10 minutes from Sremski Karlovci is located one of the most beautiful fortresses in this part of Europe. Petrovaradin is a true baroque gem and holds many interesting stories from the Austro-Hungarian time. While walking around and enjoying the amazing view over the Danube, from your guide you will hear why it took 88 years to finish this fortress and what secrets are kept underneath this sight.

When we finish with sightseeing, culture, and history we are stopping at one special place, a family-owned wine cellar for wine tasting and lunch. In this cozy family restaurant, you will experience famous Serbian hospitality and enjoy tasty home made meal. Here you will have a chance to try Bermet, local wine with world fame. During the winter period wine cellar is closed and an alternative for lunch is a restaurant on the Danube bank, close to Novi Sad.

Novi Sad

After the local gourmet experience, the next stop will be charming Novi Sad city. Here we will explore several main sights, Dunavski Park, Zmaj Jovina Street, Trg Slobode and you will learn how history shaped this interesting city.
