Palmela Castle is located on a rocky peak. It offers spectacular views of the Sierra de l'Arrábida, the Sado estuary, the Troia peninsula. Palmela Castle, of Arab origin, with the first fortification, probably built around the 9th century, after the conquest of this region to the Visigoths, but where archaeological testimonies point to a human occupation since the Neolithic period.

We had an amazing private day trip to explore the Setubal peninsula with our driver, Paulo, who was very courteous and knowledgeable.
