The Ilulissat Art Museum was initially erected in 1932 to house the colony's five managers and five commercial principals. It was then purchased by the municipal government and converted into the present museum, which opened in 1995. It is presently a house of numerous permanent and contemporary exhibits, featuring a permanent collection of roughly 50 paintings by Emanuel A.
