What's included in the package

Itinerary

Tikal National Park

Our tour guide will pick you up at your hotel and after an hour and 30 minute drive you'll arrive at Tikal National Park. You will visit the main highlights and get the opportunity to climb some of the most important structures. To get the full understanding of the greatness of this civilization, your guide will explain the dynastic history of the rulers of this great city and full description of the structures and what you are observing.

Great Plaza

Most of this interesting hike will be under the canopy of the trees so you´ll be well protected from the sun but under the watch of Spider and Howler monkeys and the many species of birds found in Tikal. Twin Pyramid Complex Q will be one of our stops before getting to the Great Plaza, a commemorative complex unique to Tikal and your first opportunity to climb a pyramid and your first carved monument of the 29th king of the ruling dynasty. After a short walk passing through another Twin Pyramid Complex you get to an original causeway which takes you exactly behind the most iconic temple in Tikal, The Great Jaguar Temple.

Temple I

To get a better understanding of their lifestyle, we take a detour and explore the residential structures in the Central Acropolis and then move to the North Acropolis which is where most of the royal tombs were found. This will leave you in front of Temple I, the Great Jaguar Temple and in the middle of the Great Plaza.

Temple II

Here, you will be perfectly positioned to get the best picture of the iconic Temple I, the mortuary temple of one of the most important rulers of Tikal, Hasaw Chaan Kawil.

Lost World

Your guide will lead you to the plaza with the earliest evidence of occupation in Tikal and an opportunity to climb the Great Pyramid. The view from here is incredible, you will a 360 degrees view over the canopy of the trees and the tallest structures at very close distance for some amazing photographs. This is also where you wait for the sunset when you do a later tour. The Lost World Complex was very important for the mayas as it was their Astronomical Observatory Complex.

Temple IV

One of the main highlights of the tour is going up one of the tallest single constructions in the western hemisphere. Definitely a privileged place to stand since in the heyday of this sophisticated city, only the ruler and the high priest were allowed to have this view. Now looking over the canopy of the trees and a clear sight of the tip of Temples I, Temple II and Temple II. This temple is also very popular and sometimes known as the Star Wars Temple because in 1977 the producer George Lucas included a scene from this very point for the movie Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope.

Tikal National Park

After this wonderful experience you will make your way down through trails in the forest to the restaurant and enjoy a hot, delicious local dish and a cold drink of your choice...

Flores

After a hot lunch and cold drink, we drive you back to your hotel in your air conditioned vehicle where surely you´ll have a snooze after having an amazing day.
