The Bini Lagune estate is an ecotourism site near Abidjan. Small corner of paradise which offers a luxuriant and invigorating vegetation, we embark you in the village of Kofakoi for an afternoon on the themes of ecology and solidarity tourism. On the program: 7km hike, typical Ivorian lunch on the edge of the lagoon, and canoe trip possible for the most motivated, or relaxation for the others!
Dorine or Aichatou are 2 beneficiaries of a training that allows them to develop cultural tours to promote Grand Bassam. They have designed a City Tour which will make you discover Grand-Bassam and its inhabitants with a fresh look, in particular through a mini tour and an encounter with craftsmen who make the particularity of Grand-Bassam. In this small town not far from Abidjan, you will quickly be seduced by the astonishing diversity of the heritage, the refinement of its inhabitants, as much on the general behavior of their environment and their habitat as on the quality of their welcome. You will hear everywhere: “Akwaba, welcome”. Our guides therefore hope, thanks to this tour, to open the doors of this charming and unique city to you through a city tour followed by a Pottery workshop.
Our volunteer guides takes you to meet the merchants and artisans of the neighborhood, to discover it in another facet! The plateau is the business district of Abidjan, nicknamed the "Ivorian Manhattan". But although it is the administrative and financial center of the country, it also has incredible but often overlooked tourist assets.
You choose the day and time: Abidjan to Yamoussoukro (en FRANCAIS ou ANGLAIS). We leave Abidjan at 700 and drive 2.5 hours to Yamoussoukro where we will take a guided tour of the basilica, a modern marvel. We will check out the Foundation for Peace and see the outside of beloved Ivoirian President Felix Houphouet-Boigny's presidential palace and its iconic crocodile moat. Yamoussoukro has been the political capital of Cote d'Ivoire since 1983, and we'll learn why! We will eat lunch then head back to Abidjan around 1400 to arrive at approximately 1700. Sunday tour times are different. The cost includes car, driver*, and tour guide. The tip for the guide at the Basilica is not included and will be about 10,000-20,000 CFA. We can add the option to go to delicious restaurant; the cost of lunch is not included which will be about 20,000 CFA per person. If you have your own car, the price for the tour and guide is just 100 euros. Contactez-moi pour une visite de Yamoussoukro en francais!
The basilica hosts thousands of visitors per year. There are four guides who speak English, including me. My colleagues and I want to use our language skills to maximize your 1.5 hours visit to this beautiful site and city. In addition to the basilica, view of the presidential palace, visit to the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Foundation for Peace, and Crocodile Lake, we can visit a cacao plantation (3 km from basilica), artisanal village (20 km from basilica), the golf course (1 km from basilica) or have lunch together.
Meet us in Grand Bassam (en FRANCAIS ou ANGLAIS) at the National Museum of Costume (google maps name in English or Musee National du Costume en francais) at 9am. We will walk or drive (if you have a car) through the unique, French colonial buildings. We can add the option to go to delicious restaurant on the ocean; cost of the meal is not included. We'll see the mural documenting the story of the women who marched for a cause and won! We will learn about the usage of each colonial building, monuments to the colonists who died of yellow fever, and much more. We'll visit 3 chic and cool artisan workshops: local artwork, excellent wood and brass carvings, stunning pottery. If you would like to be picked up, please book this walking tour on TripAdvisor, contact me, and we'll work out a price and vehicle. Cruise passengers - reserve with us for a private tour, transportation to and from port, for a special price! Contactez-moi pour une visite de Grand Bassam en francais!
This tour is the perfect combination of historical sites, local life, and nature. You will start walking for 1 hour around Qartier France and your guide will take you to all the landmarks of this UNESCO site. After that, you can relax on the canoe with a beverage and some snacks while you are being taken across the lagoon of Bassam and admiring the mangroves and palm trees. You will reach the traditional village of Monduke, with its multiple coconut trees and its houses made of local materials like palm tree leaves and African bamboo. Here you will be able to see how the fishermen pull their boats loaded with the catch of the day into the shore while their wives sell the fish to the visitors on the sand. An unforgettable experience. Row back to the starting point with a stop in the village where the N'Zima people smoke the fish. Taste this delicatessen while sipping on a beer in a Maquis at the end of the tour.
Whether you are interested in local food, fabrics (loincloths), or just curious to discover the atmosphere and culture of the markets, I suggest you discover the large Marcory market for its diversity. You will discover the vibrant life of Abidjan markets, local snacks (street food), the key ingredients of Ivorian dishes, the culture of loincloths etc. The itinerary can be personalized according to your wishes and if other markets interest you, do not hesitate to contact me. The price is for 3 people maximum. Contact me for more participants. This price includes the visit to the Marcory market which takes approximately 2 hours. An additional 2 hours can be included to visit CAVA if available (taxi not included). For my part, born in Abidjan, I have been working in catering for several years. In my different positions, I was responsible for purchasing products, so I spent many hours exploring the Abidjan markets that I love.

If you have a spare half day when in Abidjan, I would highly recommend this tour. Benedicte was my guide, she was superb, spoke a lot about the work that her organisation, Train & Travel, does which is highly commendable. The lagoon is a peaceful getaway from Abidjan, included a canoe ride around...

Overall it was a great tour and informative of the customs in that area. We cut the hiking in half so we can enjoy the water more which was fun. The food was also to die for… so good! I would plan a whole day for this tour to get the most out of it. We did a half day but it was still worth it!
